Health, Safety & Environment Advisor – Hybrid (Warrington, Bristol, Leicester or Newbury)
Join an experienced team supporting major projects within a regulated nuclear environment. This role is ideal if you have strong health, safety and environmental expertise and want to contribute to protecting people and the environment. You’ll play a key part in ensuring compliance and driving safe operations across complex engineering projects. Location and Working Pattern Hybrid working based from Warrington, Bristol, Leicester or Newbury.

IR35: Inside
Duration: 12 months initially
Security Clearance: SC required (ability to progress to DV preferred). Sole UK nationals only due to security clearance requirements.

Our client is a leading organisation in the nuclear industry, known for delivering high‑profile and complex engineering projects. They have a strong commitment to safety, compliance and sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Support management in maintaining effective health, safety and environmental arrangements.
• Ensure compliance with all HSE legislation, regulations and internal policies.
• Develop and implement strategies to identify and mitigate risks across operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and support the integration of HSE considerations into project activities.
• Deliver safety training programmes to employees and contractors.
• Investigate incidents, analyse root causes and recommend improvement actions.
• Provide guidance and subject matter expertise to teams and stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in safety culture and environmental performance.

Must‑have Requirements

• NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and standards.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing controls.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Nice‑to‑have Skills

• Experience in the nuclear sector or other highly regulated, high‑hazard industries.
• Industrial safety experience.
• Qualification in Science or Engineering (or equivalent).
• Auditor qualification or audit experience.
• Minimum Tech IOSH membership with active CPD.
• Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001 application.
