Electrical Commissioning Engineer – Data Centres & Mission‑Critical Facilities

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join major data centre developments in Portugal. This role is ideal for professionals who take pride in delivering precise commissioning work and ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of complex electrical systems across technically advanced environments.

Client Overview
Our client is an established global engineering organisation providing high‑quality inspection, testing, and certification services for large infrastructure and technology projects. Their work underpins the operational safety and efficiency of facilities across the energy, industrial, and data sectors.


Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, performance testing, and verification activities for electrical infrastructure.
• Prepare, execute, and document detailed commissioning procedures and methodologies.
• Carry out static and dynamic testing to confirm compliance with design and performance standards.
• Review electrical drawings, control schematics, and system specifications.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project teams throughout commissioning activities.
• Diagnose, track, and resolve electrical and controls‑related issues.
• Maintain rigorous site safety, quality, and technical documentation processes.
• Support project handover through final validation and reporting activities.

Must‑have Requirements

• At least 4 years of commissioning experience in mission‑critical, heavy industrial, or large commercial environments.
• Strong knowledge of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems, including transformers, generators, UPS, STS, EPMS, and switchgear.
• Familiarity with instrumentation, grounding, and power distribution networks.
• Skilled in SCADA, PLC, EPMS, and industrial control systems.
• Understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet, and BACnet.
• Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Committed to delivering projects safely and to high technical standards.

Nice‑to‑have Skills

• Experience in hyperscale or data centre commissioning.
• Exposure to building management or automation system integration.
• Prior experience in cross‑cultural or international project delivery teams.
