We’re looking for four Senior EC&I Engineers to join our client’s team in Chorley. This role is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers with strong design development and verification skills to contribute to high‑integrity, safety‑critical projects. You’ll work on concept, scheme and detailed designs, ensuring standards are met and compliance is achieved from start to finish. This is a contract role, outside of IR35.
Location and Working Pattern Chorley-based role with a 4-day working week (37.5 hours over four days). Hybrid working is available, with 2 days in the office each week.

Responsibilities- Develop concept, scheme and detail designs, producing 3D models, drawings and supporting documentation.
- Conduct design risk assessments to identify hazards and define risk control measures.
- Produce scoping calculations and collaborate with Stress Engineers to substantiate design solutions.
- Ensure compliance with UKCA/CE marking and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Review technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance with standards.
- Provide engineering input during procurement, manufacture, assembly and commissioning stages.
- Support configuration control and maintain disciplined document management.
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Must-have Requirements- Professionally registered engineer with a recognised Level 6 qualification (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in developing engineering design solutions, including production and verification of technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of conventional and nuclear safety principles applied in design processes.
- Knowledge and practical application of UKCA/CE marking requirements and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation and standards, including Machinery Directive, LOLER, PUWER and CDM regulations.
Nice-to-have Skills- Experience developing mock-ups, prototypes or test rigs to validate designs.
- Knowledge of integrated engineering processes within multidisciplinary project environments.
- Ability to mentor and provide support to junior engineers.
