Contract Manager

An established civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee a key project in Wigan. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in civils, drainage and highways, and can be offered either as a contract assignment or a permanent position, depending on preference and experience.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the delivery of a civils package including drainage, duct installations, floor slabs and general groundworks
• Manage and monitor project programmes to ensure work is delivered on time and to specification
• Supervise site teams and subcontractors to maintain strong site performance
• Act as a primary point of contact for the client, ensuring clear reporting and communication
• Support commercial and quantity surveying teams with cost and progress information
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with quality standards
• Coordinate project resources and liaise with internal engineering and operational teams

Must‑have Requirements

• Proven background in civil engineering project management
• Demonstrable experience managing site teams and subcontractors
• Ability to control project programmes and deliver quality results
• Strong communication and client‑facing skills
• Commercial understanding and ability to assist with QS activities

Nice‑to‑have Skills

• Experience delivering local authority or highways projects
• Track record of overseeing multiple projects in the North West
• Experience within a regional civil engineering or infrastructure contractor
