Finance Officer

Location: Bolton

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday–Thursday 8:00am–5:00pm, Friday 8:00am–12:00 noon

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Officer to join our clients team in Bolton. This is a key role within the Finance function, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of payroll, credit control, cash forecasting, and ledger management. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams and ledgers.
• Oversee working capital management and produce accurate cashflow forecasts.
• Control weekly supplier and expense payment runs in line with cashflow requirements.
• Administer credit control processes to ensure timely cash receipts.
• Prepare and post monthly accruals, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments.
• Complete all month‑end Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Process payroll, including salaries and statutory deductions, in partnership with our payroll provider.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure strict data confidentiality.
• Provide training, guidance, and development to finance team members.
• Support corporate governance, risk management, and internal control procedures.
• Assist with the year‑end audit process.
• Contribute to key Finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role and grade.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant or in a similar finance role.
• Strong knowledge of advanced accounting and financial principles.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Confident communicator with effective written, verbal, and IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Highly organised, able to manage workloads and meet deadlines independently.
• Strong relationship‑building skills, both face‑to‑face and virtually.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to use initiative and work proactively.
