On behalf of a leading engineering consutlancy, we’re recruiting Senior and Lead Control Systems Engineers to drive complex control & automation projects across a highly regulated environment (nuclear decommissioning). You’ll be hands‑on across the full lifecycle — design, implementation, testing, commissioning — working as part of an integrated, multi‑disciplinary engineering team.
If you enjoy technical ownership, solving real engineering challenges, and influencing how systems are delivered, this role puts you right at the centre of project success.

What you’ll be doing
  • Taking end‑to‑end ownership of PLC/SCADA delivery — from design to commissioning.
  • Developing PLC software, control philosophies, simulation tools, and test environments.
  • Producing high‑quality documentation across FDS, DDS, test specs, O&M and more.
  • Leading FAT/CAT/SAT testing and driving swift resolution of technical issues.
  • Troubleshooting complex control system challenges both in-house and on site.
  • Working closely with Lead Engineers, PMs, and wider disciplines to keep delivery aligned with schedule and quality expectations.
  • Supporting design reviews, technical workshops, and cross‑discipline integration.
What you’ll bring
  • Proven experience delivering PLC‑based control systems in regulated or technical environments.
  • Confident across IEC 61131 programming, industrial comms, and system integration.
  • Strong lifecycle delivery experience: design → implementation → V&V → commissioning.
  • Clear, structured documentation skills and the ability to review others’ work.
  • Strong analytical and fault‑finding skills under pressure.
  • A collaborative communicator who can work effectively across engineering and project teams.
Nice to have
  • Experience with Rockwell or Schneider PLC/SCADA platforms.
  • Background in nuclear, defence, MOD, pharmaceuticals, or similar regulated sectors.
  • Knowledge of functional safety or OT cyber‑security principles.
  • Familiarity with Sellafield standards.
  • Professional registration or relevant vendor certifications.
