HV Senior Planner
Location: Birmingham or Manchester, London and Bristol
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to support the delivery of major infrastructure programmes within the substation, HV, National Grid, transmission, and distribution sectors. The ideal candidate will be a highly capable P6 specialist with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, comfortable working within a contractor environment and managing complex subcontractor inputs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop project programmes using Primavera P6.
  • Monitor progress, update schedules, and manage critical paths across engineering and construction phases.
  • Proactively engage with site teams, engineers, and subcontractors to gather accurate progress data.
  • Attend client and internal meetings to present programme updates, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Support the production of NEC3/NEC4-compliant programmes, including logic, float, and early warning impacts.
  • Challenge and validate subcontractor schedules and integrate them into the master programme.
  • Assist project leadership with planning strategy, sequencing, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with planning procedures, governance requirements, and project controls standards.
Skills & Experience
  1. Essential – Primavera P6 (Highest Priority)
  • Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 is mandatory.
  • Must be able to build, structure, update, and analyse complex programmes.
  • Ability to communicate planning logic and critical paths clearly to non-planners.
  1. Essential – NEC Contract Planning
  • Strong understanding of NEC3 or NEC4 programme requirements.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining NEC-compliant schedules.
  1. Highly Desirable – Sector Experience
  • Exposure to substation, HV, National Grid, transmission, or distribution projects.
  • Experience with infrastructure planning interfaces (civils, electrical, commissioning).
  • Industry experience is desirable, though not essential if P6 and NEC competence are strong.
  1. Contractor Environment Experience
  • Strong background working in contractor-side delivery.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractor programmes and managing interface planning.
