Agency Manager – Brazil
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Agency Manager to lead the establishment and growth of a new maritime agency operation in Brazil. The position is ideal for someone with deep local industry knowledge, a strong professional network, and a proven track record in maritime agency management and business development.


Location and Working Pattern
Brazil – full-time, on-site role with extensive travel across Brazilian ports.


Client Overview
Our client is a well-established international shipping and maritime services group. They are expanding their agency operations in Brazil and are seeking a local industry expert to lead business development, operations, and client engagement across the region.


Responsibilities
  • Lead the setup and development of the company’s agency operations in Brazil.
  • Identify new market opportunities across ports, agency, husbandry, crew change and vessel-support services.
  • Build and manage relationships with port authorities, terminals, customs, and other maritime stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement business strategies for market entry and growth.
  • Oversee all operational activities including vessel arrivals, documentation and port formalities.
  • Lead commercial discussions with clients, developing competitive service offerings.
  • Build and manage a local team, ensuring high performance and operational excellence.
  • Report to senior leadership on local market intelligence, commercial performance and expansion opportunities.


Must-have Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the Brazilian maritime, shipping or port agency sector.
  • Proven success managing or developing agency operations in Brazil.
  • Strong knowledge of Brazilian ports, local regulations and operating practices.
  • Established relationships with port authorities, maritime agencies and other industry contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business and convert relationships into revenue.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English, with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Brazilian ports.


Nice-to-have Skills

  • Previous leadership position in a Brazilian or international agency business.
  • Experience setting up new offices or expanding agency operations in Brazil.
  • Experience across multiple vessel types including tanker, bulk, container or offshore segments.
  • Relationships with major port operators, ship managers, charterers and traders.
  • Background in recruiting and managing agency teams.
