The HSE Lead acts as the most senior Health, Safety and Environmental authority on-site, holding ultimate responsibility for all HSE matters during the construction of a high-value data centre campus in Amsterdam. This individual will own the delivery of safety strategy, compliance and culture, ensuring zero-harm and regulatory adherence across the project. Responsibilities HSE Leadership and Authority
  • Serve as the number one on-site for HSE, accountable for compliance and performance.
  • Lead safety planning for all stages of the project, from mobilisation to completion.
  • Set the benchmark for safety and wellbeing across all subcontractor and internal activities.
Governance and Assurance
  • Develop and enforce project-specific HSE plans, audits and reporting frameworks.
  • Monitor risk, regulatory obligations and site performance daily.
  • Report directly to project and regional leadership on critical HSE metrics and actions.
Culture and Engagement
  • Act as the primary voice for safety culture on the project.
  • Deliver training and influence behaviours at every level of site operations.
  • Ensure lessons learned are shared and standards consistently raised.
Experience
  • Extensive experience as the lead HSE authority on major construction projects.
  • Deep understanding of regional safety legislation and management systems.
  • Proven capability managing large contractor environments within complex builds (data centre or similar preferred).
Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent mandatory.
  • IOSH membership essential; environmental credentials desirable.
