Senior Project Engineer – Electrical



Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer – Electrical to join a leading organisation in the data centre sector. Client Overview

Our client is an innovative and technology-driven consultancy dedicated to delivering excellence in engineering solutions for data centre environments.



Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services upgrades for live data centres, including M&E upgrades, capacity enhancements, and technology refresh projects.
  • Manage retrofit-focused strategies such as system tie-ins, redundancy planning, and risk mitigation during live operations.
  • Oversee technical due diligence for existing facilities, conducting power and capacity assessments.
  • Prepare and review technical designs, schematics, reports, and tender documentation.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and contracts, mitigating scope and operational risks.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff within the retrofit workstream.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement for retrofit delivery in complex environments.



Must-have Requirements

  • Proven expertise in electrical building services for live data centre environments, including LV/MV distribution and UPS systems.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office, with calculation experience using ETAP, Amtech, or DIALux.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IEC, CIBSE, BS, IS, and EN standards.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in building services engineering, with 3 years in data centre projects.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards Chartership).



Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience with Irish and EU building regulations and energy efficiency standards.
  • Familiarity with BMS/EPMS integration and smart building systems.
  • Knowledge of LEED/BREEAM and EU Energy Efficiency directives.
