Construction Translator / Interpreter

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Construction Translator / Interpreter to join a leading international construction business on-site in Germany. This role is ideal for a bilingual professional fluent in German and English, with proven expertise translating technical and construction-related documentation. You’ll play a key part in supporting effective communication between site teams, contractors, and global stakeholders.


Location and Working Pattern
This position is based on-site in Germany. Regular interaction with on-site teams and visiting project personnel will be required.

Responsibilities

• Translate blueprints, technical specifications, equipment manuals, legal contracts, and project documents between English and German.
• Ensure that all health and safety materials and training documents are accurately interpreted to support compliance on-site.
• Provide real-time verbal interpretation during client meetings, safety briefings, and site inspections.
• Proofread and edit translated documents to guarantee technical precision and clarity.
• Maintain and update bilingual glossaries covering construction, engineering, and architectural terms.
• Liaise with management and contractors to ensure that technical information is conveyed accurately across languages.

Must‑have Requirements

• Fluency in English and German (written and spoken).
• Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Modern Languages, or a related discipline – or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven experience translating technical documentation in construction, engineering, or industrial environments.
• Skilled in using CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools and standard office software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly across linguistic and cultural boundaries.

Nice‑to‑have Skills

• Working knowledge of construction terminology, building materials, and engineering documentation standards.
• Previous experience on large, multinational construction projects.
