We are currently recruiting for an experienced EC&I Protection Engineer to support a major electrical infrastructure programme within a highly regulated industrial environment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to complex power distribution projects, working on critical systems and ageing assets.

The Role As EC&I Protection Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, modelling, and assurance of electrical protection systems across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Creation and ongoing updating of project ETAP models
  • Production of fault calculations in line with BS EN 60909
  • Preparation of protection coordination reports
  • Delivery of arc flash risk assessments
  • Providing power and protection technical support to the wider design team
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of engineering standards and best practice
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with just one day per week required on site in Warrington.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge of BS EN 60909 fault calculations
  • Proficiency in power distribution modelling software (e.g., ETAP)
  • Experience with protection and control systems (11kV & 400V)
  • Experience in 11kV & 400V substation design
  • Experience completing unit protection calculations (differential & high-impedance schemes)
  • Relevant design experience relating to electrical infrastructure upgrades, including work with ageing assets
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices within regulated environments
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working within complex, safety-critical industries
  • Experience with CAD tools such as Trimble, ERACS, and DIgSILENT
  • Experience with IEC 61850 and power system SCADA systems
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership
