Project Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of MEP works across five shafts, associated headhouses, and two portal buildings.
• Manage the full lifecycle from detailed design through mobilisation and construction delivery.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Ensure MEP works are delivered safely, to programme, within budget, and meeting quality standards.
• Review and manage detailed design outputs for constructability and efficiency.
• Oversee contractor performance and programme adherence.
• Manage risks, opportunities, interfaces, and control changes throughout the project.
• Monitor progress, report milestones, and implement recovery plans when required.
• Support procurement, commissioning, testing, and handover activities.
• Produce reports and updates for senior management and key stakeholders.

Must-have Requirements

• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering large-scale MEP works.
• Background in major infrastructure or complex projects such as rail, tunnelling, utilities, or energy.
• In-depth knowledge of:
  • Mechanical systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Building services
  • Public health systems
  • Testing and commissioning
• Experience managing full project cycles through design, mobilisation, and construction phases.
• Strong capabilities in contractor and multidisciplinary team coordination.
• Excellent programme and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in regulated environments and strong leadership skills.

Nice-to-have Skills

• Previous experience on HS2 or similar major rail or tunnelling projects.
• Exposure to MEP delivery in shafts, portals, tunnels, or major infrastructure assets.
• Degree in Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline.
• Chartered status or working towards it.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and project controls processes.

Maple Cross, Hertfordshire (South Portal Site)
Full-time on-site role
Contract duration: August 2026 to late 2028
