We're looking for a Senior Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Designer opportunity within the UK nuclear sector on a permanent basis, offering hybrid working from Warrington or Preston and long-term career progression on nationally significant programmes.
This is a senior-level design role for someone who enjoys shaping high-quality EC&I solutions, guiding others, and seeing designs through the full lifecycle — from concept to in‑service support. You’ll sit at the heart of complex nuclear projects, influencing standards, mentoring designers, and helping deliver work that genuinely matters.
You won’t be boxed into pure production. This role blends
hands-on design, technical authority, and leadership, making it ideal for a designer ready to step up or someone already operating at senior level but wanting better balance and progression.
What you’ll be involved in:- Providing technical leadership and design governance across EC&I activities
- Checking, approving and allocating work for a team of designers
- Ensuring designs meet regulatory, safety and quality standards
- Supporting client interactions and resolving technical or delivery challenges
- Producing and reviewing EC&I design documentation across all design stages
- Leading low-risk, multi-discipline work packages when required
- Contributing ideas, innovation and continuous improvement across the design function
What they’re looking for:- Proven experience in a detailed EC&I design environment
- Strong working knowledge of CAD tools and engineering drawing practice
- Confidence reviewing and assuring the work of others
- A collaborative mindset — comfortable working across disciplines
- HNC / HND (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
Important to know:- This is a permanent role, 37 hours per week
- Hybrid working is supported - minimum of 3 days in the office per week
- You must be eligible to achieve SC clearance
- UK nuclear experience is highly relevant, but strong regulated industry backgrounds will be considered
What’s on offer:- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Generous annual leave with options to buy or sell days
- Enhanced pension and life assurance
- Digital GP, health checks and wellbeing support
- Paid professional fees and employee share scheme
- Clear commitment to flexible working and inclusion
This is a role for someone who wants
impact, visibility, and longevity — not just another project.
