NRL currently have a Senior CE&I Designer contract opportunity in Warrington supporting the delivery of a critical nuclear infrastructure project at Sellafield, with an initial 12‑month term and scope to extend.
This role sits within one of the most significant nuclear programmes in the UK, contributing to the SIXEP Continuity Plant (SCP) — a newbuild facility designed to safeguard the long‑term operation of a vital effluent treatment process at Sellafield. The project forms part of the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) framework, a 20‑year, £7bn programme delivering major site improvements and complex engineering solutions.
You’ll join a highly collaborative engineering environment where design quality, safety and buildability genuinely matter. This is a delivery‑focused role, closely supporting construction and commissioning activities, with real visibility of your work being implemented on site.
What you’ll be doing- Producing and checking CE&I design deliverables including loop diagrams, single line diagrams and block cable diagrams
- Developing and updating control panel schematics in line with project standards
- Updating cable schedules and associated data within Aveva E&I
- Creating and reviewing termination details to support installation and commissioning
- Ensuring drawings and documentation meet quality, safety and programme requirements
- Working closely with engineering, construction and commissioning teams to resolve design issues efficiently
What you’ll bring- ONC or HNC in Electrical Engineering (or a relevant equivalent)
- Strong hands‑on experience using AutoCAD and Aveva E&I for nuclear or regulated projects
- Confidence delivering CE&I scope with minimal supervision in a live project environment
- The ability to communicate clearly across multi‑discipline teams
- Previous experience in nuclear or another heavily regulated industry (oil & gas, chemicals, defence, pharmaceuticals)
Why this opportunity stands out- Long‑term contract on a nationally significant nuclear programme
- Exposure to complex, safety‑critical design delivery work
- A role that bridges design, construction and commissioning — not just desk‑based CAD work
- Backed by a stable PPP framework with strong future workload
If you’re a Senior CE&I Designer who enjoys seeing designs turn into reality and wants to be part of a programme with long‑term national impact, this contract offers both challenge and longevity.
