Location: HPC Site
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 24 months FTC
Work Schedule: 50 hours per week, 5/2 days

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Welding Engineer to join a major nuclear project at the Hinkley Point C (HPC) site.
This is a site-based role supporting the delivery of welding and quality activities, with responsibility for monitoring and supervising subcontractors to ensure welding activities are planned, prepared and executed safely, competently and in accordance with applicable codes, regulations and project requirements.

As Site Welding Engineer, you will work closely with the Site Quality Manager and project teams, providing specialist welding and quality expertise across site activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Monitoring and supervising subcontractor welding activities on site.
  • Reviewing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Reviewing welder qualification records, NDT operator qualifications and welding inspector qualifications.
  • Verifying welding documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
  • Monitoring welding quality and welder performance, including failure rates.
  • Supporting site inspections and testing activities.
  • Monitoring subcontractor quality activities against Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Ensuring witness and hold points are appropriately managed and notified.
  • Supporting compliance with Nuclear Safety, PED and EN requirements.
  • Reviewing and verifying Site Work Conformance Files (SWCF).
  • Conducting quality audits and random inspections of internal teams, partners and subcontractors.
  • Supporting quality induction and training for project partners and subcontractors.
  • Monitoring and tracking site quality requirements and reporting progress to the Site Quality Manager.
  • Working collaboratively with multicultural construction teams and project stakeholders.
We are looking for an experienced welding/quality professional with a strong background in site-based construction environments, ideally within nuclear, power generation or other highly regulated industries.

You should have:
  • An Engineering or Bachelor's degree.
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification.
  • A recognised Welding Inspector qualification.
  • Proven experience in welding inspection.
  • Experience with NDT/NDE.
  • Good knowledge and experience of piping and mechanical works.
  • Experience working in multicultural construction environments, with experience across at least two complete projects in a quality role.
  • Good understanding of quality management systems and site quality processes.
  • Strong knowledge of welding documentation, inspection and testing requirements.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
The following would be advantageous:
  • NDT qualifications in PT, MT, UT and/or RT.
  • Experience within a nuclear or power generation environment.
  • Experience in corrosion protection, including painting or galvanising.
  • Experience working with major contractors and subcontractors on complex construction projects.
