Project Engineer – Wastewater Network Programme

Contract | Major Utilities Programme | North West | Hybrid (2–3 days/week on site/office)

We’re supporting a large-scale Wastewater Network Improvement Initiative and we’re looking for a Project Engineer who thrives in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment. This is a chance to join a growing programme that’s improving customer outcomes, operational performance and environmental compliance across the region.
If you enjoy coordinating delivery teams, keeping projects organised and driving work from survey through to handover, this role will suit you perfectly.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll help deliver a programme of wastewater network improvements across the North West, ensuring projects are planned, documented and executed safely and efficiently. In this role, you will:

  • Support Programme Managers in shaping and prioritising a deliverable programme of work.
  • Work closely with internal teams, commercial partners and framework contractors to identify the best solutions and delivery routes.
  • Arrange customer appointments and coordinate surveys, inspections and checks — ensuring all corporate systems are updated accurately.
  • Produce key project documentation (pre‑site information packs, PCI packs, handover packs) to support accurate pricing and safe delivery.
  • Manage S159 land access notices where required.
  • Review O&M manuals, “As‑Built” drawings and Health & Safety files with field and maintenance teams.
  • Provide technical, contractual and commercial support to local delivery teams.
  • Identify best practice, share learning across stakeholders and highlight training needs.
  • Ensure full compliance with wastewater policies, procedures and regulatory protocols.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience in wastewater networks or broader utilities project delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills and confidence coordinating multiple stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of CDM, H&S principles and project documentation.
  • Ability to manage several workstreams and handle changing priorities.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks, issues and improvements.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region.

Why this role?

  • Meaningful work improving essential public infrastructure.
  • A supportive programme team and growing pipeline of future work.
  • Flexible start date and potential extension beyond the financial year.
  • A mix of office, site and coordination work — no two days the same.
