NRL’s engineering client based in Glasgow’s city centre, is looking to appoint two experienced Civil & Structural Engineering BIM Technicians to join their multi-discipline technical delivery capability to meet opportunities in the Nuclear and Defence industries. Inside IR35 contract until June 2024 – Hybrid working is on offer.

Responsibilities: To fulfil the duties of a BIM Technician, the responsibilities of the role may include:

  • The accurate and reliable production of Revit models and associated deliverables cut from the model, based on engineering sketches.

  • The delivery of structural steelwork and civil engineering drawings, reinforced concrete drawings, RC detailing and schedules. 

  • Working closely with our engineers to understand and foresee practical challenges within a design and to work with the team to resolve complex design and detailing challenges.

  • Coordinating project deliverables and ensuring they comply with information requirements, project BIM documents, relevant standards and quality procedures.

  • Attending and contributing to design team and model coordination meetings.

  • Knowledge sharing and mentoring junior & apprentice technicians.

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of BIM best practices and standards within the organisation.

Here’s What You Will Need:

BIM technology:

  • The individual will possess the following:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of delivering civil and structural engineering models and drawings.

  • Extensive experience of Autodesk Revit 3D modelling software and Autodesk AutoCAD.

  • A working knowledge of 3D model coordination and clash detection software such as Autodesk Navisworks.

  • Practical experience of Revit addins and AutoCAD verticals such as CADS RC, CADS-RC3D and would be beneficial.

  • Practical knowledge of common data environments such as Bentley ProjectWise, Autodesk Vault, Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM 360 would be beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally qualified in an engineering discipline with:

  • HND level qualification or higher in an engineering discipline.

  • Substantial and relevant BIM experience working on large scale industrial and commercial projects.

  • Experience in the defence and security sector would be beneficial.

  • Have good technical knowledge of multi-disciplinary building design, detailing and coordination.

  • Have good experience of design using a common data environment (CDE).

  • Practical understanding of the standards which define the UK BIM Framework and ISO 19650 would be beneficial.

  • Have SC security clearance or be eligible to gain SC security accreditation.
