Contract: rolling 6-month contract
Rate: £375/day
Hours: 50 hours/week (5x10hr days, Mon–Fri)
Project Summary: Join a major extension of the existing 400kV AIS substation in Necton, tripling its size to accommodate new customer connections to the National Grid network. This is a critical infrastructure project requiring experienced site supervision with a strong M&E background.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily site operations, including subcontractors and M&E works.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety policies, and National Grid standards.
- Coordinate site logistics, materials, and equipment.
- Monitor progress and quality, reporting directly to the Site Manager.
- Lead daily briefings, set-to-work procedures, and issue permits (e.g. Permits to Dig, Hot Work).
- Assist in commissioning and site documentation.
- Represent the project professionally with clients and stakeholders.
- Full UK driving licence
- National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8)
- SMSTS, SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safely
- CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in T&D, preferably on National Grid projects
- Previous supervisory experience on HV/M&E installations
- Strong knowledge of LV/HV systems and safety protocols
- Proficient with documentation and site reporting tools
- HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Impressed Voltage awareness
- Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor qualification
- IOSH Environmental or HSG47 certification
- Familiarity with National Grid transmission procedures
- Must be physically fit for site conditions and able to work independently
- Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills essential
