Electronics Hardware Engineer – Lancashire

Our client, a leading Manufacturer of life safety electronic equipment, are now looking for an Electronics Hardware Engineer to support with their site based in Lancashire.

About the role:

You will be an Electronics engineer with a strong bias towards hardware.  Appreciation of firmware is beneficial but there will be emphasis on your hardware skills.
While the job is product design, the essential skill is knowledge and application of fundamental Electronics.  As well as designing your own solutions, you will peer review others and be involved in training and mentoring less experienced Engineers.

  • You will have an analytical and methodical approach to all aspects of your work.  You will be able to synthesise solutions to problems and test them through simulation and practical prototype.

  • You can expect to take technical ownership of a project from beginning to end, bringing in the support of colleagues as required. 

  • You will exercise your skills and experience to design and support new and existing products. 

  • This is a technical role. With experience, you will become a product technical authority, responsible for the support, future development and sustaining of a product line.

  • We encourage you to explore engineering novelty and express your technical creativity. Training is available, where appropriate.


What you will need:

You will be degree qualified or have an HND with significant experience.

You will have demonstrable experience of as many of the following areas as possible:

  • Analogue Electronics

  • Digital Electronics

  • Mixed-signal

  • Microcontrollers

  • Power management

  • Micro power

  • Linear and switching regulators

  • Off-line SMPS to 500W

  • Battery charging

  • Multiplexing

  • Audio

  • Small signal

  • Power amps

  • Serial communications

  • Low level discrete design

  • Sub-GHz RF

  • Simulation

  • Schematic capture

  • Appreciation of PCB design

  • Appreciation of mechanical design

  • Prototyping

  • Bench testing

  • Fault finding

  • Project management

  • ATE, DFM, DFT, EMC, LVD, etc.
