Position: Senior Cost Engineer

Reporting line:

The Cost Engineer will report directly to the Project Controls Lead.  When assigned to specific projects, the Cost Engineers will functionally report to the Project Manager.

Role:

The Cost Engineer is designated to deliver a proactive cost management service to engineering projects and discipline engineering projects.

Key responsibilities (not limited to)

This role will be required to:

  • Provide Cost Engineering service to the contract with responsibility for the accurate cost reporting of complete projects or individual elements within major projects

  • Work proactively with relevant Project Manager/Engineer to ensure that commitments and costs are tracked and controlled

  • Generate and maintain accurate cost reports in a format and frequency that provides clear visibility of the status of expenditure against budgets for internal use

  • Produce regular cost reports for clients as required by the Contract Agreement or Company requirements detailing CTR, PCR and CVO values, client approved PO values, billed to date, committed costs, forecast final costs, as a minimum for external reporting

  • Proactive in the provision of improvement proposals to streamline the invoicing / cost reporting process

  • Regularly monitor man-hour expenditure versus budget and physical progress, ensuring potential over-runs are identified and actioned in a timely manner

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with Finance, Procurement, Planning and Commercial Teams

  • Review of CTRs, PCR’s, VORs and IDC for commercial and contractual accuracy

  • To issue internal and external cost reports as stipulated by Project Controls Lead/Project Manager.

  • Administration of Contract Variations

  • Internal financial reporting to Management

  • Cost input to weekly and monthly internal reporting.

  • Assisting with preparation of project control trending and forecasting.

  • Adherence to the Change Management process across all projects under remit.

  • Qualifications

Education:

Offshore Certificates:                             N/A

Academic Qualifications:                        HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject

Experience:

In Equivalent Role:                                10 yrs in similar role

Topside Contractor Experience:              Preferred, not essential

Engineering Contractor Experience:       Essential

Oil & Gas Sector Experience:                 Preferred

Personal skills:

  • Commercially aware

  • Organised and QHSE aware

  • Commitment to continual improvement

  • Capable of working to month-end deadlines

  • Competent in the use of MS applications
