Senior Design Engineer - consultancy / design in support of operators of marine, renewable and subsea assets
Job Purpose:
To take a technical lead in delivering key product solutions in a dynamic design environment
Based on a diverse range of existing technology, work with colleagues to: - Ensure current products are deployed appropriately and safely to suit client requirements - Modify existing products to suit a tailored set of client requirements - Innovate new bespoke solutions to solve unique challenges clients may be experiencing
Assist with the training and development of Design Engineers and Trainees
Assisting with the day to day running of the Engineering Department
Maintaining good working relationships internally with other departments and externally with the client
Keeping abreast of developments within the industry and help to ensure client remains seen as a leader in their field Directly Reports to:

Design Engineers
Main Responsibilities:
Ensuring engineering design packages in full compliance with customers requirements and all relevant codes and standards
Carrying out approval of design packages
Support and mentoring of Engineering Team members
Producing conceptual designs and detailed engineering analysis using available methods
Producing 3D modelling drawings
Preparing Design Specifications
Preparing General Arrangement drawings and Assembly drawings, manufacturing drawings, Material Take Off Lists and Bill of Materials
Advising and instructing operations staff with respect to testing and assembly of equipment
Attending client meetings as required, identifying design engineering requirements and processes to meet client needs Individual Quality and Safety
Responsibilities:
To comply with client quality, safety and environmental management systems and procedures at all times
Ensure all accidents / incidents / near misses / hazards are immediately reported and relevant paperwork is completed
Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical (preferred), Civil or Marine Engineering
Chartered membership of relevant professional engineering institute desirable
Experience / Competence / Skills / Knowledge:
Design experience, preferably within the Oil and Gas, marine or renewable environment, sub-sea experience would be an advantage
Design experience from first principles
Competence in 3D modelling and drafting (AutoCAD Inventor in use, transition training from comparable software provided where required)
Experienced of, and competent in carrying out, checking and approving engineering design packages
Understanding of and interpretation of FEA techniques
