Working four days per week, fully office‑based in Bolton, you’ll act as the final technical gatekeeper for drawings, models and documentation before they move into production or out to customers. The focus is clear: eliminate drawing errors, reduce NCRs and raise the overall quality bar across the department.

What you’ll be doing
  • Checking and approving 2D drawings, 3D models, BOMs and engineering documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with standards
  • Reviewing tolerance stack‑ups and GD&T to ensure products remain functional and certifiable
  • Owning drawing standards, driving consistency and updating standards where improvements are required
  • Ensuring full adherence to ISO 9001 procedures and maintaining accurate checking logs
  • Supporting the resolution of NCRs and identifying repeat design issues
  • Providing constructive technical feedback to design engineers to improve output quality
  • Collaborating closely with engineering leadership and supporting tender activity where needed
What you’ll bring
  • A strong mechanical engineering background within industrial sheet metal or steel fabrication environments
  • Either:
    • HNC/HND with extensive hands‑on industry experience
    • OR a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering with solid post‑graduate experience
  • Proven experience authoring or checking engineering drawings in a mechanical design setting
  • Confident use of 2D and 3D CAD tools
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • BS 8888
    • GD&T, limits & fits, datum systems and surface finish specification
    • Design for Manufacture principles
  • A detail‑driven mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve standards
