We’re recruiting an experienced Plant Operator to join an established site in Walkden, Greater Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with chemical plant experience who wants a hands-on role within a busy operational environment. The position offers an immediate start and a secure 6-month contract.

Location and Working Pattern
  • Walkden, Greater Manchester (M28 3WA)
  • Fully on-site – no hybrid option
  • Contract length: 6 months
  • 39 hours per week
    • Monday–Thursday: 8 hours per day
    • Friday: 7 hours
  • Shift patterns: 08:00–16:00 or 06:00–14:00
  • Potential for overtime
Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor filling plant equipment in line with safety standards
  • Complete relevant documentation and maintain accurate records
  • Carry out basic analytical checks as required
  • Operate forklift trucks to move materials safely and efficiently
  • Adhere to site health, safety, and compliance procedures at all times
  • Handle and process industrial gases according to guidelines
  • Support with routine operational tasks and assist team members as needed
Must‑have Requirements
  • Valid FLT (Forklift Truck) licence
  • Previous experience working on a chemical plant
  • Understanding of safety and compliance in industrial environments
  • Ability to operate plant equipment and complete documentation
  • Competent with computers
  • Minimum GCSEs or equivalent qualifications
Nice‑to‑have Skills
  • Experience working with gases such as Oxygen (O₂), Nitrogen (N₂), Argon (Ar), and Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
