We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced
Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading organisation operating within the power sector. This is a permanent position based in Birmingham, involving a mix of office and home working. The role offers responsibility across both live projects and tender opportunities, ideal for someone with strong NEC3/NEC4 expertise and proven experience managing commercial aspects of major projects.

Hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home
Client Overview Our client is a respected player in the power sector, delivering large-scale, complex projects safely and efficiently across the UK. Their approach focuses on collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
Responsibilities- Provide commercial support across projects and tender activities within the power sector
- Lead all aspects of commercial control in alignment with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts (Options A and C)
- Prepare, negotiate, and administer subcontracts through to final account stage
- Handle monthly reporting both internally and to clients in line with contractual and procedural requirements
- Drive optimisation of cash flow through activity schedule development, valuations, and subcontract management
- Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities, and value engineering initiatives
- Accurately administer change events, early warnings, and compensation events through to implementation
- Prepare cost estimates and tender documentation
- Support and mentor junior commercial team members to enhance capability
Must-have Requirements- BSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience, OR
- HND and 4 years’ experience, OR
- GCSE and 6 years’ relevant experience
- Chartership or working towards chartership with RICS or similar body
- Proven experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Options A & C)
- Previous exposure to the Power Transmission & Distribution sector (preferred)
- Strong MS Office skills and ability to read/interpret project programmes
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities
Nice-to-have Skills- Understanding of construction methods, technology, and standard measurement forms
- Tendering and cost estimating experience
- Knowledge of risk management and financial compliance processes
