Summary Our client is looking for an experienced Senior High Voltage Engineer to join their team in Dublin. Location and Working Pattern Dublin – Primarily office-based with travel for client meetings, workshops, and site visits across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
Client Overview
Our client is a growing engineering consultancy with a strong reputation in energy infrastructure. They deliver complex projects for utilities and developers, including substations, interconnectors, and associated grid infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Lead the design and delivery of high voltage (HV) and medium voltage (MV) infrastructure projects, including substations and interconnectors.
- Develop and review technical documents such as SLDs, substation layouts, and protection/control philosophies.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including internal engineers, external consultants, and subcontractors.
- Interface with clients, TSOs/DSOs, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Support technical standards, recruitment, and mentoring for HV engineering capability development.
- Review technical studies including load flow, short-circuit, protection, harmonics, and earthing.
- Participate in bid reviews, project planning, and site inspections as required.
Must-have Requirements- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 8–15 years of experience in HV/MV electrical engineering.
- Proven track record in HV substation design and grid connection infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of protection/control systems, earthing, and lightning protection.
- Knowledge of IEC, BS, EN, and IS standards.
- Familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, PowerFactory (and ideally PSCAD).
- Excellent reporting, specification writing, and client communication skills.
Nice-to-have Skills- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience within consultancy environments or utility/TSO projects.
- Experience managing teams and external consultants.
