When one of Ireland's foremost contractors required assistance in recruiting specialist positions for their semiconductor super fabrication project, our Ireland recruitment team were ready to provide support.

Meeting the scale of the project

During its construction phase, the new facility in County Kildare was estimated to exceed €4 billion, employing a high volumes of skilled construction workers across all contractors and subcontractors at its peak.

To help deliver the technical aspects of the project however, a significant number of specialists skills were needed to support across various stages of the project build. What’s more the nature of the project meant many of the temporary roles needed to able to work with precision in clean room environments, something that was crucial to avoid any setbacks in the project.

Recruitment organisations who were retained by contractors working on the project needed to demonstrate expertise in hiring the right skilled workers for advanced facilities projects – with the ability to source candidates with a strong track record working in data centres, clean rooms and high precision environments such as high purity.

Delivering specialist recruitment services

In collaboration with on-site contractors, NRL's Ireland team provided specialist recruitment for numerous mechanical craft positions essential for the successful completion of the semiconductor project. This also included technical positions such as CQV, construction supervision and HVAC, delivered in line with the project timescales and construction plans.

To manage the temporary workforce, colleagues in NRL’s international team provided a range of administrative and contractor support services – to ensure all workers were looked after throughout their assignments. Including managing in-country legislation to adhere to Irish employment law, managing timesheets, expenses and payroll and providing a point of contact for any individual queries and project updates.

50+ workers were engaged by NRL onto Project Bluejay working with 3 clients on-site, with work delivered over a 4-year period to assist with the project build.

Supporting the project timeline

Once the new semiconductor site was completed, the result was the establishment of one of Europe's most advanced manufacturing sites. The site expansion was the largest private investment ever undertaken in the history of the Irish State and ranks among the most significant projects in European history.

Having extensive expertise supporting large infrastructure and advanced facilities projects, NRL were delighted to play their part in helping deliver this project. After supporting Irish clients for nearly a decade, in 2020 NRL incorporated a company in Ireland - to meet the growing demand for new client partnerships and our continued increase in recruitment activity. During that time, we’ve worked across more than 30 large pharmaceutical, data centre, semi-conductor manufacturing and battery manufacturing projects, various infrastructure projects and key regional developments.
