- Reporting directly to the relevant Site Construction Manager
- Responsible for
- The successful execution of the overall piping scope including supports, painting, testing and insulation for allocated areas of the site in accordance with the project schedule, cost and other KPIs.
- This will include:
- Monitoring pre-fabrication of pipework to include
- Weld quality.
- Material control and cast number control and transfer.
- Cleaning and painting.
- Packaging and preservation to ensure maintenance of the required cleaning standards.
- Adequate marking to ensure easy identification and use at the construction site.
- Documentation and certification.
- Ensuring the correct installation of piping, pipe supports, valves and other in-line equipment in accordance with the isometrics, P&ID, support drawings and all other drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Ensuring the maintenance of the necessary cleanliness of piping systems and the use of dry air purges where necessary.
- Ensure that painting is applied correctly to surfaces that have been correctly prepared. Ensure that adequate QC checks are made to ensure the correct coat dry film thickness and adhesion.
- Ensure that all insulation materials are correctly applied. To ensure that cryogenic pipe insulation is applied with the correct vapour barriers and that cladding does not use screws which penetrate the vapour barrier.
- Ensure that testing is carried out using the correct medium iAs per the project line list
- Ensure adequate safety distances during pneumatic testing.
- Work with QA dept. from AP and contractor to ensure all necessary QC checks are carried out and that weld quality processes are maintained.
- Ensure that all documentation is compiled by sub-contractor as construction progresses and that this is checked and complete.
- Ensure material control and cast number transfer is properly carried out.
- Issuing permit to work as per the AP system to the contractor on a daily basis.
- Review of RAMS as required
- Responsible for punching out completed systems and managing the punch list on behalf of AP.
- Responsible for the completion of all mandatory before start up punch list items to support the commissioning schedule.
- Responsibility for the safe execution of the work being supervised.
- The day-to-day supervision of a group of sub-contractor’s construction teams as agreed at site.
- Maintain a strong and effective professional working relationship with the AP Project and Construction Management and the Contractor EPPM.
- Support and promote the implementation of the Project Safety, Security and Quality plans.
- Support and promote the implementation of the Project Execution Plan
- Provide leadership to ensure prompt prioritisation and coordination of all unforeseen issues at the site, escalating to the Construction Manager as necessary.
- Manage time capture and approvals for all reimbursable supervision team resources as required.
- Write regular progress reports as required by the Construction Supervisor/Manager.
- Management system mandates all personnel to carry out Basic Safety Process and comply with the required quota set out on the project.
- Identification of works that are additional to contract and bringing this to the attention of the AP management.
- Review the constructability of upcoming works and actively seek best erection methods with sub-contractor
- Work with other AP supervision, the scaffold co-ordinator and others in AP to ensure good communication between trades.
- Work closely with quality teams to ensure compliance
- Familiarise themself with the AP standards and specifications relating to piping.
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Degree or Diploma, in an appropriate Engineering discipline e.g. Mechanical.
- 10 years of experience in Construction on industrial gases, oil & gas or related industry projects which should be construction site based.
- Must demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of recognized piping codes including the B31.3.
- Have a thorough knowledge and proven ability in construction techniques with emphasis on piping erection, pre-fabrication, painting, insulation, testing and quality control.
- Knowledge of ASME and other relevant standards and codes
- Team Player.
- Strong communicator written and oral.
- Strong and effective coordinator.
- Organised, disciplined, able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities and parallel tasks.
- Microsoft software skills, particularly Excel.
- Report writing skills.
- Experience of working in a multicultural project team.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Industrial gas construction experience.
- Experience of managing construction on behalf of the client rather than through an EPC.
- Experience of executing Bill of Quantity construction contracts.
