About the Role: We are seeking a highly capable and detail-driven Cost Controller to join our team on a major construction project in Bridgwater. This site-based role is ideal for someone with a strong background in construction cost control and financial reporting, who can confidently manage cost performance and support executive-level decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed cost reports for Finance and Executive Management, including:
- Cumulative spend to date vs. budget and forecast
- Current cost liabilities
- Performance indicators
- Key quantity tracking
- Assess monthly applications for payment and validate against project progress.
- Review and evaluate Tier 1 Contractor’s monthly cost reports, including:
- Staff and labour costs
- Subcontractor expenditures
- Monitor and report on cost trends, variances, and risks.
- Support the mitigation and resolution of contractual risks through the early warning mechanism.
- Collaborate with project managers, quantity surveyors, and procurement teams to ensure cost accuracy and transparency.
- Assist in budget preparation, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with contractual and financial procedures.
- Proven experience in cost control within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, cost management, and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in cost control software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly.
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors and managing subcontractor cost data.
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Finance, or Construction Management are desirable.
