Due to continued growth, NRL's client delivers bespoke engineering and technical solutions to the nuclear industry and is looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.


About the role:
  • Implement a focused strategy for the company to ensure the achievement of Business H&S objectives and targets
  • Exploit the opportunities for the development and implementation of best H&S systems and practices that improves the control of risk in the business
  • To provide professional direction to the Management Team to enable them to fulfil their leadership role in the implementation of the Company’s H&S policy and standards, covering both direct and contractor employees
  • Implement an annual H&S improvement process that is consistent with the Business H&S improvement plans
  • Ensure application of the company H&S Policy, principles and standards in a way that is consistent with the business organisation & arrangements
  • Establish industry Health and Safety standards, systems and practices and promote their implementation for the wider benefit of the business
  • Co-ordinate activities to assess, eliminate, minimise, control, mitigate and manage accident hazards across the business
  • Ensure the all the business safety reports are adequately maintained and that the processes for the control of Major accident hazards are effective
  • Provide a professional health and safety advisory service that supports managers in their health and safety responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of business Health and Safety standards and instruction
  • Monitor for compliance and continuous improvement, systems and processes across the business
  • Maintain the relationship between the regulators (HSE, Competent Authority)
  • Maintain relationships with the recognised representative bodies, in respect to health and safety matters effecting employees and contractors
  • In the event of a serious accident in the area, actively lead and direct the accident investigation to ensure all potential learnings are identified and acted upon
  • Contribute to the H&S training and development of local managers and employees to ensure their competence to meet their corporate and legal accountabilities
  • Ensure a high discipline standard is maintained throughout the business, by ensuing that effective time keeping and attendance is maintained, policy processes and business standards are followed and that accountability of all team members are known.
