Our client is looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and motivated Lead Plumber for maintenance work at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital to lead a team of onsite plumbers who will integrate into the Technical team as a whole. The individual will have the desire to expand their professional qualifications portfolio, ensuring the contract provides robust and reliable authorised /competent person cover at all times for our client.

Based at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, the Lead Plumber will be responsible for the technical performance and maintenance of standards within the plumbing department. They will provide guidance to others on site, showing technical expertise in plumbing and water systems. Ensure appropriate and compliant solutions and efficient customer service delivery. The Lead Plumber will have a thorough knowledge of L8 (HTM04) and how this will apply in a Healthcare setting and be willing to undergo training to take on the role of Deputy Responsible Person (L8).

Basic Duties will include:

  • 1st Fix Reactive Response and Rectification duties – Including fault finding and resolution.

  • 2nd Fix Reactive Response to meet contractual time scales.

  • Providing support and leadership to colleagues including technical advice to resolve open problems and encourage a learning culture within the technical team.

  • Planned Maintenance – Pre planned works within the Hospital to ensure contractual compliance, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, HTM’s and good Industry Practice.

  • Ensure workload is planned, delivered to customer specification and agreed service requirement.

  • Plan, prioritise and resource projects.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory and company procedures, maintaining up to date knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations, and helping us to achieve our No Life at Risk targets.

  • Install commission and service plant & equipment.

  • Diagnose, fault-find, commission systems and monitor facility performance, through PPM programme, identifying any additional works required.

  • Flexible working hours required. On-Call Engineer system in operation.

  • Administer and complete relevant paperwork.

  • Understand and meet ongoing customer requirements, develop effective working relationships with business partners, suppliers and sub contractors.

  • Fair, consistent and courteous attitude in all dealings at all levels.

  • Assist other members of the work force as required.

  • Willing to attend training in line with the business requirements and personal development.

  • Full driving licence required.

  • At all times maintain a smart appearance and professional manner that is representative of ENGIE in the workplace.

  • Ability to work under pressure, take ownership of problems and deal with them to their conclusion.

  • Ensure that all issues are reported to the Technical Services Supervisor/Technical Services Manager.

Impact:
The individual will play a vital role within Engie, working alongside an already established technical team to ensure that the operations are legally and contractually compliant and represent excellence in service delivery.

Qualifications or Required Experience:
Experience

  • Approved and formal apprenticeship served in relevant skill area or relevant and practical experience within a similar industry would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrable Leadership skills

  • Sound awareness of risk assessment and working safely with equipment.

  • Sound knowledge of Health & Safety.

  • Ability to work to plans (method statements), read technical diagrams.

  • PFI/Healthcare experience would be an advantage.

  • Experience of working on or with, LTHW, TMV’s, Fire Extinguishers, Sentinel/Representative testing, Pipe work, Valves, Drainage, Potable Water Storage/Systems.

  • L8 (HTM04)

  • Vented and Unvented systems

  • PPM & Reactive Work

  • Friendly manner and excellent customer service skills.


Desired Qualifications:

  • NVQ trained

  • Water Regs Certificate

  • Good computer skills
