NRL are looking to speak with Legal and Contract Lead for a permanent position with one of Ireland’s leading mechanical & Electrical engineering contractors.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that a detailed review of all of the contractual obligations and commercial risks is carried out prior to the submission of tenders.
  • Support and Lead contract negotiations within the Company governance guidelines and escalate for approval contract risks prior to contract execution
  • Assist in preparation of Project Risk Registers.
  • Assisting in the handover of contracts post award.
  • Coordinate approval and issue of Bonds, Guarantees and Insurances.
  • Provide ad hoc support to wider business in relation to commercial / legal matters and queries as directed by Senior Management.
  • Provide guidance and support to key personnel with regard to Company contractual risks, liabilities, obligations, indemnities and conditions precedent T&C’s for compliancy.
  • Undertake internal audit reviews to ensure compliance with Company contract policies. Provide gap analysis review to Project Managers in first instance of escalation and agree actions closeout by whom and timelines.
  • Ensure early appropriate Risk Escalation & offer and lead mitigation solutions.
  • Provide expert support and advice for risk escalated / disputed projects.
  • Understanding of programming techniques and project controls.
  • Assist with the development and award of sub-tier contract packages, ensuring the relevant contract packs are appropriately awarded (inserted - milestone deliverables, general scope of works, technical documentation, document registers, programmes, pricing information, terms and conditions and sequenced priority of documentation, etc. in accordance with standard subcontracts).
  • Bespoke development of higher tier subcontracts – procurement led Global Companies to develop frameworks where none in place.
  • Compliance with LOI / Instruction to proceed requirements for quick award tied into a defined end date.
  • Offer expert knowledge to Lean procedures and practices within the business.
  • Assist in the development of Company Legal/Contract/Commercial procedures/systems and in setting up governance for process mapping.
  • Provide clear direction to the Board, support function managers, project and commercial managers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement re: risk management; legal and contractual compliance and commercial awareness within the Group.
  • Develop technical and commercial understanding/awareness of Contract & Project Deliverables supported by the experienced technical teams
  • Manage Client / Supply Chain expectations and maintain and develop relationships.
  • Participate in preparation, development and implementation of new Company Commercial Procedures.
  • Contribute to Functional leadership, bringing best practice into the business, involvement in Business Improvement Initiatives.
  • Understand and comply with the EHS & Q policies/procedures.
  • Flexible to travel between business units and to support projects ad-hoc.
Role Requirements:
  • Quantity surveying experience essential on M&E Projects.
  • 3rd level qualification in Construction Economics / Quantity Surveying ideally coupled with a technical background as either Plumber/Pipefitter (or similar) or Mechanical Engineer / Electrician (or similar) or Electrical Engineer
  • Prior experience working in a similar capacity within the construction industry preferred.
  • Proficient in excel.
  • Detailed knowledge of commercial management and QS Role within construction
  • Knowledge of contract conditions and their applications
  • Overall understanding of the business, client and Sub Contractor relations, and installations
  • Excellent Communication/Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent Record Keeping and Administration Skills
  • Process driven and focused on EHS and Quality Work Management Systems and Processes
