NRL are currently recruiting for a Planner to work on a permanent basis with a client of ours. The role is based in Thatcham but will be a hybrid of site based and remote working.




Role Responsibilities
  • Identifying planning scope, major constraints, and contract requirements.
  • Identifying major quantities and factors affecting the programme
  • Building the programme from first principles, ensuring that programme content is functionally compliant with the planning procedures and guidance.
  • Working with all disciplines to ensure the full project scope is captured within the programme
  • Establishing and agreeing construction outputs and agree working hours where appropriate
  • Establishing and agreeing with Operations key methods of construction, sequencing, installation, and commissioning
  • Producing and documenting the planning deliverables including programmes, basis of schedule, presentations, and reports.
  • Developing overall programmes, issuing to all parties for review and implementing recommendations, innovation, and best practice as applicable
  • Reconciling company and sub-contract plant/labour and major materials elements in conjunction where appropriate
  • Cost and resource loading, plus resource levelling techniques as required
  • Interfacing
  • Ensuring that the Contract Programme is produced, managed, and maintained in accordance with the planning procedures.
  • The overall planning strategy and the timing & sequence of the Contract Programme activities
  • The issue and communication of the Contract Programme to the Project Lead for onward issue to Client and Project Team
  • Ensuring that all other project planning and programming necessary for the execution of the contract is properly undertaken.
  • Set up appropriate visual programme to assist the Project Team to timely deliver projects and improve productivity, performance, and safety of projects.
  • Ensuring all reporting requirements are accurately captured.
  • Establish, implement & manage EVM reporting throughout the lifecycle of the project
 

Role Requirements:
  • Experienced with Primavera P6
  • Experience, across all stages of the project life cycle
  • Substantial experience of planning services in medium to large sized projects within the construction industry 1m – 20m
  • Experience in managing schedules on NEC Projects
  • Good experience in the use of planning techniques and the relevant planning toolset
  • Good understanding of the various forms of tender documents, contract documents and specifications
  • Good understanding of the various methods of planning, programme, and progress monitoring
  • Good understanding of risk and opportunity management with reference to planning & programming
  • Good understanding of the events that initiate, and of the methods used to demonstrate, delay, or change entitlement
  • Good understanding of the construction market, methods of construction, plant, equipment, and labour requirements
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office in particular; Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering / construction related discipline
  • Strong communication skills, including writing reports & presenting.
  • Awareness of Project Management principles (PRINCE2 / APM)
  • A basic understanding of various contract types & contract law
