NRL are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Control Lead & Cost Controller To play a key role within a Project Delivery Leadership Team, working alongside the Best Engineering, Quality, Build and Supply Chain professionals. To work on a contract basis for one of our leading clients within the Nuclear Industry. The role will be based in Bristol (BS3) but able to work remotely due to the current pandemic. Please note all candidates must have existing SC level security clearance to be considered against the post. 

About The Role:
To be accountable for providing:
  • Visibility of a clear time, cost and quality baseline to the delivery leads and wider business (where needed)
  • Visibility of progress, performance, risk & opportunity impact against agreed time, cost and quality baseline for use by the delivery leads and wider business (where needed)
  • Adherence to all agreed Project Controls related management plans and processes
Responsibilities:
  • Managing/leading the day-to-day project control activities relating to the contracted scope
  • Ensuring the application of project controls aligns to agreed contract requirements, management plans and the Babcock Business Management System
  • Establishing and owning both schedule and cost baselines and ongoing governance control
  • Ensuring that schedule forecasts and cost EACs within P6/IFS are kept up-to-date using team inputs, PO and/or Shop order confirmation
  • Challenging and protecting any cost or schedule forecast changes that reduce float/contingency or exceed the baseline
  • Ensuring that agreed KPI's and earned value methods are utilised and reported against so as to present a view of true delivery performance
  • Ensuring that the resourcing requirements of the Project Control delivery Team is met and contains SQEP individuals
  • Arranging for Customer reporting outputs as required by the contract which relate to the delivery team scope of work
  • Ensuring that IFS best practice is understood and implemented by the project controls team
  • Ownership of the quantitative risk analysis process (cost and/or schedule related)
  • Ownership of the change management process for any proposed changes in the cost/schedule baselines
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of related management plans
  • Ensuring that Risk & Opportunity Management is undertaken in-line with the Risk & Opportunity Management Plan
  • Ensuring that the status and configuration of deliverable scope is aligned to the agreed contract Product Breakdown Structure and maintained throughout delivery
  • Supporting the delivery team lead with necessary customer engagement
This is a high profile role, with deliveries of highly complex bespoke equipment that must be made on time. This role is pivotal to this success.

Experience;
  • A proven Project Manager having successfully delivered significant engineering projects to challenging schedules
  • Have successfully operated in highly legislated markets, ideally defence
  • Have operated successfully in matrix organisations, negotiating resource and prioritising tasks
  • Developed and improved processes and systems that support continuously improvement of delivery performance and budget adherence
  • Managed of complex schedules extending over multiple years
  • Managed risks and opportunities utilising SRA and systems such a P6

Education and qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Membership of the APM (or wiling to join)
  • Project management qualification
