NRL are currently resourcing for a Project Engineer to be based on local Nuclear projects in Cumbria for a major Construction, Mechanical and Engineering client.


About the role:

  • The Project Engineer is responsible for delivering the engineering definition, detail design, procurement and construction phases of the project to agreed performance targets.
  • Apply technical & commercial Supervision of all construction activities for Projects under your control, in accordance with current safety legislation, company procedures, Nuclear Contractors Standards and Nuclear site licence.
  • Leading by example - set the correct standards and show a positive attitude.
  • Complete Safety audits as per agreed schedule.
  • Attend safety training courses as required.
  • Have awareness of CDM regs and implement on all construction works carried out.
  • Ensure all temporary works procedures are carried out and adhered to.
  • Manage the Supervisors to ensure all Safety audits and Toolbox Talks are completed to the correct timescale and correct standard.
  • Attend stakeholders walkdowns and input/produce to risk assessment production.
  • Have knowledge and familiarisation of associated procedures and best practices.
  • Audit onsite RA and POWRA for compliance.
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship within the facilities.
  • Always demand best practices, whilst continually looking for innovations that will support continuous improvement.
  • Deal with any Safety concerns from your team and escalate if cannot be resolved.
  • Ensure all procedures are adhered to and operatives are SQEP for assigned tasks.
  • Encourage the use of Good, Better, How observations.

What experience you will need: 

  • Technical & Commercial Supervision.
  • Procurement, cost and coordination of purchase. 
  • Delivery; Managing and liaising with superisors allocated to works.
  • Quality assurance ensuring work is carried out in accordance with the relevant specifications. 
  • Liaise with Early Engagement Engineer. 
  • Administration of Project Documents. 
  • Being a point of contact or clients and for all projects under your control. 
  • Producing weekly project status.
