Senior Safety Engineer Location: Glasgow or Edinburgh
About the Role
As a Senior Safety Engineer to join our world-class Technical/Process Safety team. Ideally based in our Glasgow or Edinburgh office, you will play a key role in supporting and leading safety projects across high-hazard industries such as Oil & Gas, Low Carbon, and Renewables. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the energy transition while mentoring junior engineers and developing your own technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technically excellent safety projects.
- Conduct safety assessments including consequence analysis, QRA, Formal Safety Assessments, and Safety Case/COMAH compliance.
- Author high-quality technical reports.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers.
- Prepare proposals and cost estimates for new work scopes.
- Ensure project delivery aligns with scope, budget, and schedule.
- Engage directly with clients and build strong relationships.
- Perform additional tasks as required, aligned with your skills and development goals.
- Degree in a relevant engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered status with a recognized institution.
- Proven experience in Process/Technical Safety, ideally within the Energy sector.
- Strong background in risk and safety management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and meet delivery/cost targets.
- Proficiency in QRA and consequence analysis (preferably using PHAST).
- Familiarity with COMAH and Safety Case Regulations.
- Skilled in technical report writing and reviewing.
- Experience contributing to successful bids and proposals.
- Passion for technically challenging engineering projects.
- Proactive, driven, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Client-facing experience with commercial awareness.
- Highly organized and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
