Senior Subcontracts Specialist - Aberdeen

Key Accountabilities
  • Development of subcontracts strategy papers.
  • Support asset transitions, including strategy development and negotiation of back-to-back subcontracts in the transition timeframe.
  • Develop the subcontracts asset plan, ensuring that is it delivered, and any tendering activity as required.
  • Prepare, draft, issue and manage Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages, including management of the clarification process, expediting responses, preparing formal commercial evaluation of bids and recommendation to award.
  • Prepare, issue & negotiate approved contracts and contract amendments to selected subcontractors.
  • Maintain and log all contract change authorisations and amendments.
  • Where appropriate, liaise with Client and Asset Solutions stakeholders in UK for legal, tax insurance and compliance to obtain their input into subcontracts.
  • Negotiate contract terms with suppliers in line with the client Best Practice and prepare justification for any significant exceptions for senior management approval.
  • Ensure any agreed contractual position is approved in line with the Delegation of Authority Matrix.
  • Where appropriate, ensure that the contract terms drafted to ensure full back-to-back coverage.
  • Prepare & review contract approval paperwork (SSJ, RRC, BURRC and Tender Board paperwork) in support of ITT’s and awards.
  • Gain a full understanding of company procedures and processes and follow these principles in all aspects of the role.
  • Support operations managers, project Managers, technical authorities, and contract sponsors in presenting the subcontractors’ position to suppliers and advise on their sub contractual rights and obligations.
  • Develop of standard ITT and contract templates for differing categories of activities.
  • Lead and promote a performance culture, including focus on performance and value creation.
  • Assist in the resolution of contractual claims and disputes.
  • Contribute to the subcontractor management plan and be responsible for carrying out performance reviews in accordance with the plan.
  • Support asset transitions and provide input in the SCM Transition Plan and constricting strategies.
  • Support price negotiations with suppliers/bidders to achieve demonstrable price reductions, resolving claims and variations.

Person Specification

  • Legal Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge and experience of onshore and offshore contract terms including but not limited to: service agreements, rental agreements, purchase agreements, charter parties, confidentiality agreements.
  • Experience in drafting contracts in differing commercial and contractual arrangements
  • Ability to work independently and have excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work under own initiative and meet tight deadlines.
  • Prioritise work to ensure tight deadlines are met.
  • Proven negotiations skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Considerable experience in a senior or similar role with specific experience of onshore and offshore operations and maintenance subcontracts.
