Nrl are currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to start ASAP for one of our large clients based in Buxton.  This is a contract role until mid January.

Purpose of the role:
The Finance Business Partner -Operations North will manage the provision of the regional financial and technical information and reports as part of the Cement & Lime and Building Products business management reporting which includes performance plans, budget, and forecasts. The Finance Business Partner will also provide financial advice, support and challenge as appropriate to improve performance.
  • To prepare CAPEX schedules including capital expenditure authorisations, project evaluations and forecasts.
  • To lead the provision of accurate, timely and SOX compliant accounting information to the senior regional team and produce accounts that comply with company processes, procedures and statutory obligations ensuring balance sheet integrity.
  • Takes full responsibility for working closely with both finance colleagues and senior managers for ensuring continuous improvements in variable and fixed costs and production and technical KPIs. Provides support to the senior finance teams on financial reporting and analysis.
  • A key role working closely with regional managers and their senior teams, providing financial advice, support and challenge as part of the decision-making processes including tactical planning and decisions.
  • Working closely with business and other finance colleagues to ensure clarification and understanding of business performance & consistent application of accounting policies and procedures.

Internal:
  • Senior Finance Manager, Cement, Cement & Lime & Building Products finance colleagues, Regional management team, SSC, Capital Team, Group Technical Services, Regional Distribution Manager.
External:
  • External auditors.

Experience:
  • Qualified accountant, either formally or through experience with proven operational finance experience.
  • Demonstrable finance operations background with relevant technical skills.
  • A proven track record of delivering value through effective execution of the finance and business strategies.
Skills:
  • Proven financial accounting background with relevant technical skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to work in a challenging matrix environment.
  • Well-developed management, organisational and communication skills.
  • Experienced and able to identify and drive process change and improvement.
Key Functional Competencies and Skills:
  • Ensure sustainable reductions in working capital are made through management of inventory levels at a regional and business unit level.
  • Provide analysis and deliver insight that links financial reports to business strategies.
  • Improve the impact, and understanding, of financial reporting on business performance.
  • Ensure robust and accurate forecasts and budgets.
  • Provide effective commercial procedures, or initiate change, to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered.
  • Build partnerships and credible, lasting relationships with all senior managers and their teams and provide financial support to commercial decision making.
  • Present financial performance, full year forecasts and budget variances including understanding financial opportunities and risk.
  • Mentor, coach and develop works assistant accountant.
  • Drive in partnership with the Senior Finance Manager, Cement the delivery of works operational and financial objectives.
  • Improve and develop safety awareness within the finance teams.
  • Ad hoc head office projects as assigned.
  • Ensure relevant accurate management information is provided to the regional managers and their teams.
  • Ensuring integrity of the regional accounting records and assets and liabilities.
  • Review and confirmation of the monthly region performance cost statements, KPIs, performance measurers with variance analysis and benchmarking as required.
