NRL are working on behalf of our prestigious client:  We wish to appoint a Mechanical Estimator to enable further growth of our highly successful team. The candidate will be responsible for the production of detailed tender bids, attending tender meetings and ensuring that all client requirements and technical issues are fully considered. This position will involve the day-to-day management of the tender process to ensure standards are maintained and deadlines are met. To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to prepare Schedule of Rates, "take off" quantities from drawings or bill of quantities and have previous experience within a mechanical environment. You will also need to demonstrate a broad knowledge of the industry and will have experience in a wide range of sectors, including Education, Commercial, Health, Retail and Industrial projects. This is a permanent position with strong career prospects.

 

Working within the existing team, you will be required to attend all pre-tender meetings, liaising with the client, ensuring that all tenders submitted are competitive.

 

In addition to previous mechanical experience in this type of role, suitable applicants should have strong technical knowledge of mechanical services and have experience of estimating projects within the maintenance, Fitout, retail, industrial and commercial sectors.  Candidates should also be able to source prices from sub-contractors and carry out take-offs in order to complete estimate and be able to breakdown mechanical tenders to packages.

 

The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge & experience of Mechanical   installation projects up to a value of £1m. You will also be working to tight timescales and be expected to work within these deadlines whilst continuing to deliver high quality work.

 

Successful candidates will be educated to at least HND level, demonstrating a strong understanding of Estimating issues.  Experience with Measured Term Contracts is also beneficial.

 

You will have strong commercial acumen with good negotiation skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and architects to build robust ongoing relationships.

 

Contract values are approximately £50k to £1 million.

 

Personal Attributes
The successful individual will be a dedicated Estimator with a background in the achievement of multiple tender wins.  An analytical approach and excellent time management skills are imperative to the role.

You should have good communications skills as you will be required to express your opinions both in writing and verbally at internal and external meetings, with the ability to work well as part of a team, interacting positively with colleagues and clients

 

The successful candidates must be:

Flexible in terms of hours work

Computer Literate, knowledge of Estimation Software would be an advantage

Have a full UK driving licence  

Have a minimum of 5 years estimating experience of working in a similar role

Salary is dependent on experience (plus benefits including 5% non-contributory pension, Couple Healthcare and a Car Allowance).
