Position Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the logistics strategy for the successful execution of the wind farm project. The role ensures the safe, timely, and cost-effective transportation, storage, handling, and distribution of all project materials, equipment, and wind turbine components from suppliers and ports to the project site.

Acting as the Owner's representative, the Logistics Manager works closely with the EPC Contractor, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, port operators, and government agencies to ensure that all logistics activities comply with project schedules, contractual obligations, HSE requirements,

The role plays a critical part in minimizing project risks, maintaining schedule integrity, and ensuring operational readiness throughout the construction phase.



 

 

Key Responsibilities

Logistics Planning & Strategy

  • Develop and implement the Project Logistics Management Plan.
  • Review and approve logistics strategies submitted by EPC contractors.
  • Coordinate transportation planning from manufacturing facilities to project site.
  • Ensure logistics activities support the overall project execution schedule.
  • Develop contingency plans for logistics disruptions and supply chain risks.
  • Monitor logistics performance against project milestones.


Transportation Management

  • Coordinate domestic and international transportation of wind turbine generators (WTGs), transformers, substations, cables, and construction materials.
  • Oversee heavy haulage operations for oversized and abnormal loads.
  • Ensure transportation routes, bridge studies, and road assessments are completed.
  • Coordinate transport permits, police escorts, and regulatory approvals.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and proactively resolve transportation delays.


Port, Customs & Import Coordination

  • Coordinate importation of project equipment through designated ports.
  • Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and port operators.
  • Monitor customs clearance activities to avoid delays.
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations and local statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate temporary storage and handling facilities at ports.


Site Logistics Management

  • Oversee site logistics planning, including:
    • Traffic management
    • Laydown areas
    • Warehousing
    • Temporary storage
    • Internal material transportation
    • Equipment marshalling areas
  • Coordinate delivery sequencing with construction and installation activities.
  • Ensure material availability aligns with the construction programme.
  • Optimize material flow throughout the project.


Warehouse & Material Management

  • Supervise warehouse operations and inventory control.
  • Ensure proper receiving, inspection, preservation, storage, and issuance of materials.
  • Monitor stock levels and material traceability.
  • Ensure adequate protection of critical wind turbine components.
  • Minimize material damage and inventory losses.


Contractor & Stakeholder Management

  • Monitor EPC Contractor compliance with contractual logistics obligations.
  • Coordinate with:
    • EPC Contractor
    • Wind Turbine Generator OEM
    • Suppliers
    • Freight Forwarders
    • Port Authorities
    • Customs Authorities
    • Local Government Agencies
    • Construction Team
    • HSE Team
    • Procurement Team
  • Participate in progress meetings and logistics coordination meetings.
  • Provide logistics input during project planning and risk reviews.


Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

  • Promote Company’s HSE culture across all logistics activities.
  • Ensure logistics operations comply with:
    • Company HSE policies
    • Local regulations
    • International best practices
  • Review logistics risk assessments and lifting plans.
  • Monitor safe transportation, loading, unloading, and storage operations.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure environmental protection measures are maintained during logistics operations.


Risk Management

  • Identify logistics and supply chain risks.
  • Develop mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Monitor critical path deliveries.
  • Maintain the project logistics risk register.
  • Escalate risks affecting project schedule or cost.


Cost & Performance Management

  • Monitor logistics budgets and expenditures.
  • Review logistics-related contractor claims and invoices.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising safety or quality.
  • Track logistics KPIs and contractor performance.


Reporting

Prepare regular reports covering:

  • Delivery status
  • Critical shipments
  • Customs clearance
  • Heavy transport activities
  • Warehouse inventory
  • Logistics risks
  • Contractor performance
  • Schedule impacts
  • Lessons learned
Provide weekly and monthly reports to the Project Director.



 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification in Supply Chain or Logistics Management is preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is advantageous.


Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics management within large infrastructure, renewable energy, power generation, or heavy industrial projects.
  • Minimum 5 years in a management position.
  • Proven experience in wind farm or renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing oversized and heavy-lift transportation.
  • Experience with international freight, customs clearance, and port operations.
  • Previous experience representing an Owner, Developer, or Owner's Engineer is preferred.

  • Verify logistics performance against contractual requirements.
  • Support logistics-related commercial and contractual decisions.
