NRL’s client based in Rosyth is looking to recruit an Appointed Person/ Lifting Engineer on a contract basis.

About the Role:
  • Production of detailed lift plans and associated Method Statements/Risk Assessments for lifting/transportation activities.
  • Development of safety studies such as Hazop's and Hazid's and implementation of control measures identified within these.
  • Management of Calculations as necessary to complete lift plans.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering requirements to support lifts/moves
  • Ensuring Lifting Services staff are SQEP and suitably trained for the safety critical roles they carry out.
  • Production & co-ownership of processes relating to Lifting Services scope of work.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders, Production Management, Assembly Management, Health & Safety, Internal customers, External customers, and subcontractors
  • Management of resources, budgets and schedules/programmes at local level
  • Effective management and development of business centre employees.
  • Ensure optimisation of capacities and equipment.
  • Actively seek to involve staff and employees in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Plan & Organise operational activities, liaising with support centres and sub-contractors where necessary.
  • Provide training & guidance on specialist equipment within Lifting Services scope.
  • Identification and coordination of equipment and resource requirements.
  • Ability to understand & discuss technical drawings with operational & engineering staff.
  • Efficiently utilise employees in execution of contracted work, ensuring start/stop times, attendance standards, behaviour standards are maintained at all times.
  • Manage workload to meet contract requirements meeting cost, time & safety requirements.
  • Establish and ensure that safe working practices and the working environment is in accordance with the Company policy and legislation requirements.
  • Liaise & work with internal and external customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Promote and encourage ownership and accountability for all staff and work force within their areas.
  • Be proactive in providing solutions.
  • Continually seek process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Ensure safe working practices adhered to at all times under “safety first” culture.
  • Undertake training as and when required to fulfil requirements of the role.
What you will need:
  • Experience within an engineering/operations or lifting operations role.
  • CPCS Blue card Appointed Person Qualification.
  • CAD skills preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Experience of developing method statements/risk assessments.
  • IT skills essential particularly in MS Office.
