Mechanical Design Engineer – Contract Role

Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
Duration: 5 Months
Rate: Outside IR35
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote)
Security Clearance: Must hold or be eligible for BPSS

Project: ESF Facility

Join a dynamic engineering team contributing to a high-impact defence project. NRL are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in generator and distribution equipment design.

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Create detailed drawings for equipment including generators and distribution systems.
  • Lead and support mechanical design of systems and structural components.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support during prototype build, testing, and qualification.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering teams during design reviews and configuration management.
 Experience & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in design engineering, with proven experience in generator and distribution equipment projects.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SOLIDWORKS.
  • Familiar with MOD and Defence Standards for mechanical and power systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes for military-grade equipment.
