The E&I Construction Lead is assigned to a project as a senior member of the Construction Team with responsibility for the proper and timely construction of the E&I Scope in accordance with the Company Safety and Quality standards, the detailed design, the control estimate, contract, SOP’s, WI’s, standards etc. The E&I Construction Lead is responsible for the timely turnover of all E&I systems to the client.

Main Duties/Responsibilities (not listed in precedence)

The duties of the E&I Construction Lead are set out below.

Pre-Construction:
  • Detailed review and liaison with design and client workgroup leads, model reviews.
  • Prepare and lead constructability reviews.
  • Prepare detailed SOWs for trade contract procurement.
  • Assist in preparation of detailed BOQs.
  • Review returned E&I bids and prepare TBA.
  • Trade and industry knowledge reviews, keeping abreast of developments in the construction industry.
  • Development of detailed execution strategies.
  • Input into CHSP, QA/TO and all other General Construction Requirement documentation.
  • Assist in schedule development, schedule reviews and lead IAPs.
The E&I Construction Lead will also provide input for the development of the E&I construction department which will include improving execution procedures, liaising with the E&I Design department leads, and managing and developing E&I construction resources across the project.


Main Duties/Responsibilities, In addition to above:
  • Ensures that the construction phase of the projects is adequately provided with suitably capable, qualified and experienced personnel, together with all the necessary plant, tools, temporary facilities and other resources.
  • Subcontract management including Safety, Schedule, Cost and Quality shall be your main deliverable.
  • Develops best-in-class site execution SOP’s as guidance to the Field Supervisors.
  • Engages with the Design, Commissioning and Client teams throughout the project to ensure system turnovers are achieved to scheduled milestones.
  • Complies with the Company construction methods, procedures and practices in all respects, particularly those relating to safety, quality assurance, personnel and industrial relations; where these are found to be inadequate immediately reports the deficiencies and suggests solutions.
  • Ensures that the applicable statutory and other legal requirements are properly observed.
  • Understands the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and Regulations as they affect the responsibilities of employees.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in the construction industry and assists in ensuring that the Company capability continues to develop and excel.
  • Ensures that the projects are constructed to the drawings, specifications, applicable standards, good construction practices, to schedule and in accordance with the cost budget.
  • Directs and controls the activities of the assigned staff and their functions.
  • Carries out assessments and appraisals of the contractors works and reports the results in accordance with the Company practice.
  • Ensure the Company are utilising the best technology available and ensuring innovative ideas are encouraged.
  • Ensuring lessons learned on projects are recorded and shared.
  • Reviews contractor progress reports and provides input to weekly CM report out to Client.
  • Manage construction works from pre-construction to system turnover.
  • Ensures that the criteria as set out in the Quality plan are adhered to.
  • Determines the needs for supervisor training for proper execution of the project under construction and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Adheres to the Company policies for the employment of labour and ensures that all matters concerning labour relations are dealt with in accordance with the labour agreements.
  • Supervises and manages all Site E&I Staff including construction superintendents, trade supervisors and sub-contractors.

Qualifications:
  • Degree qualified in E&I Engineering or similar
  • Significant years’ experience in a similar role
  • Biotech/Pharma knowledge
  • Excellent multi-disciplinary knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
