Location: Base office in London, Birmingham, Manchester, or Leeds

Duration: 6-month contract

Hours: 40 hours per week

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and driven ITS Engineer to join a dynamic team delivering cutting-edge Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Traffic Signal projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead design initiatives, manage resources, and contribute to the development of smart, sustainable transport infrastructure across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of ITS and Traffic Signal projects

  • Manage technical excellence and ensure safety in all design activities

  • Coordinate resource input, forecasting, and delivery to meet programme and budget targets

  • Liaise with clients and internal teams to support project growth and collaboration

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, and promote a strong safety culture

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior engineers and design teams

  • Maintain high standards of documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle


Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in the design and management of ITS or Traffic Signal projects

  • Strong understanding of design standards and industry best practices

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and work independently

  • Experience in financial management and project control

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment


Qualifications

  • Professional Membership of a recognised industry Institute or Institution (e.g., IET, CIHT, ICE)

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, or related discipline
