An Outage Planner plays an integral role in coordinating and scheduling planned works, shutdowns, or outages to minimise disruption to operations. The Outage Planner implements meticulous planning methodologies to schedule manpower, materials, and machinery for the smooth execution of engineering outages.

Required skills for an Outage Planner include excellent organisational skills, detailed technical understanding, and proficiency in planning software tools such as Primavera P6. Typically, a degree in engineering or a related field is mandatory.

Prior experience as an Outage Planner is highly desirable. Companies look for candidates who have demonstrated experience in planning and managing outage schedules effectively within the engineering sector, along with a proven ability to mitigate potential risks associated with outages.

 

​Heysham

Heysham is a small town on the coast of Lancashire, England. It is by the Irish Sea and has a harbour, which connects it to Ireland or Scotland. Heysham has a reputation for being easy to get around and its laid-back attitude makes it a popular port for tourists. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, with more opening every year as the economy grows.

Heysham is home to the largest nuclear power plants in Europe. It was built over a three-year period between 1966 and 1969 to provide electricity for the national grid. With six reactors, it produces 8% of UK's electricity, enough power for six million homes.

Heysham has good transport links to the surrounding areas including Bridgewater and Morecambe. The town has its own railway station, which sees services connecting you with Burnley, Blackpool, Leeds and Manchester. You can also use the Heysham Ferry Terminal to travel further afield to Ireland or Northern Ireland via Belfast. There are two bus services running through Heysham as well, which connect you to Lancaster and Fleetwood.
