NRL are currently recruiting an Assistant / Junior / Graduate Quantity Surveyor on a Permanent basis in the North East.

A leading Electrical and Mechanical Building Services Contractor delivering high-quality engineering solutions across commercial, healthcare, and Industrial sectors. With a strong pipeline of projects and a reputation for excellence, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join growing commercial team.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of M&E projects. You’ll assist in cost planning, procurement, valuations, and reporting to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
  • Support procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including issuing enquiries and evaluating quotations
  • Measure and value works on-site, including variations and change orders
  • Assist in preparing interim valuations and final accounts
  • Maintain accurate records of project costs and contractual correspondence
  • Support the Senior QS in preparing monthly cost reports and forecasts
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are met
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
  • Attend site meetings and contribute to project reviews

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or working towards)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other commercial software
  • Understanding of M&E systems and terminology
  • Full UK driving licence
