NRL are currently recruiting for experienced Bar Stewards to work on a contract basis for one of our leading clients, based at Faslane, Helensburgh.

Hours:
Part time & full time hours available. Shift patterns below:
  • Week One: Thur/Fri 1830-2330 & Sat 12:15-1830. Week Two: Fri/Sat: 1645-2330. Week Three: Sat/Sun 1830-23:30 12.75hrs per week on average
  • Week one: Mon-Thur 08:05-16:45 & Fri 08:05-14:45. Week Two: Mon-Thur 14:15-23:25 36 hours per week

About The Role:
  • Maintain all bar and cellar areas and equipment to required hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with relevant Food Hygiene, COSHH and Health and Safety Legislation or policies and prepare for daily service and functions as required.
  • Manage all stock to ensure it is stored correctly, rotated and stock checked, ordering stock when required.
  • Responsible for sale of food and alcohol in compliance with weights and measures legislation, refusing sale to persons who cannot provide proof of age or persons who are under the influence of alcohol
  • Operation of sales terminals and cash registers, collection and sign out float and reconciliation of cash/credit and mess transactions.
  • Collection / delivery of stock from appropriate stores or suppliers as required, including escorting deliveries.
  • Report any defects identified using the appropriate process and ensure waste is removed from the Bar areas and placed in appropriate bins.
  • Promote all products and services to maximise revenue.
  • Work as part of a team and provide assistance and cover to other sections as required.
Summary:
  • Dealing with c 50 per day (depending on Mess).
  • Servicing c 80 – 100 Functions per annum
  • Cash handling to the value of c £1,500 per week.
  • Service to be provided day, evening and weekends (hours depending on Mess).

What You Will Need:
  • Ability to cover across all Bars.
  • Problem solving for any issues arising.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Identify new opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Thinking pro-actively to minimise issues.
  • Prioritisation of tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Thinking on your feet to respond to customer enquiries/requests and decide on best course of action.
  • Decide when to ask for proof of age for sale of alcohol / tobacco and when to refuse if under age or inebriated.
  • Decide when to alert authorities to potential incidents during ‘out of hours’.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Fire, Environment & Health Legislation, Company & Base Policies.
  • Experienced in Cash handling.
  • Knowledge of Military ranks.
  • Experience of line cleaning and associated H&S risks.
  • Experience of stock management.
  • Experience in operating Electronic Point of Sale systems and cash registers.
