- Mission and role details:
The role of the Battery Analysis (BA) Technician is to carry out diagnostics, inspection and analysis on battery cells, modules and packs to assess adherence of product to specification and identify root causes of faults. This role combines electrochemical testing, materials science, and hands-on techniques to correlate observations with performance. The BA Technician supports the delivery of product and after sales services to AESC customers that fulfil all the performance, safety and quality criteria set by customers. Additionally, the BA Technician will work closely with engineers, manufacturing, quality assurance, R&D teams and customers to correlate findings with production, inspection and testing processes.
Outline and Responsibilities:- Perform testing on lithium-ion battery cells and components to evaluate key performance indicators or material properties.
- Analyse battery cells/modules/packs that have exhibited performance or characteristics that deviate from specifications and identify root cause of deviations.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support or conduct analysis, offer insights and ensure AESC product quality is maintained at all times.
- Travel to customer or AESC sites in UK and Europe to carry out on site analysis in AESC product performance or support troubleshooting activities.
- Conduct electrochemical analysis on battery components (e.g., anodes, cathodes, and electrolyte).
- Prepare and present analysis results to engineers, manufacturing and management, providing detailed feedback on analysis findings, materials behavior and test outcomes.
- Adhere to safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure that laboratory working environment remains organised, tidy, safe and suitable for producing high quality analysis outputs.
Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Requirements:- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred but not required) in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in either a chemical or performance/validation laboratory with focus on handling of materials according to safety regulations.
- Knowledge of Li-ion battery or Li-ion battery materials.
- Experience in data analysis, interpretation and reporting.
- Experience with IATF16949, ISO 9001 & VDA preferred.
- Experience working with high voltage devices is advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Full driving license and ability to travel at short notice (including extended periods overseas)
