We are seeking a highly skilled BIM / CAD Technician to support the development, production, and maintenance of accurate 2D CAD drawings and technical documentation across multi‑disciplinary construction and FM projects. Working closely with designers, engineers, project managers, and the CAD/BIM Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring all drawings and schedules meet company CAD standards, client requirements, and industry guidelines including ISO 19650.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce, develop, and maintain high‑quality 2D CAD drawings using approved authoring tools such as AutoCAD.
- Prepare plans, sections, elevations, details, and schematic drawings to support design, tender, construction, and FM stages.
- Update drawings in line with mark‑ups, surveys, red‑line changes, and as‑built information.
- Assist in maintaining CAD libraries, templates, title blocks, and standard details.
- Ensure consistent application of layering, line weights, annotation, and plotting standards.
- Support coordination between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines, including Xref management and clash identification.
- Produce and maintain drawing registers, ensuring accurate version control and correct issue of revisions.
- Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely integration of updated drawing information.
- Support project teams in the correct application of CAD standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Convert survey information (e.g., point clouds, measured surveys) into accurate 2D drawings.
- Maintain structured digital filing systems in line with company information management procedures.
- Provide day‑to‑day support to project staff in CAD tools and drawing production processes.
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive drawings and documents.
- Support audits, quality checks, and compliance reviews related to drawing standards and information management.
- Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety, BIM Standards, and Project Execution Plans.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of CAD drafting practices within the AEC/FM environment.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, Navisworks.
- Experience producing and amending architectural, structural, and/or MEP drawings.
- Good understanding of multi‑disciplinary design and coordination processes.
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Familiarity with digital document control and drawing register processes.
- Awareness of how CAD outputs support asset management and FM information, with a willingness to develop further skills in BIM and digital tools.
