Job Title: Caretaker - Location: Cheshire West and Chester Borough CH65

Hourly Rate: Competitive

Contract: Full time – November 2025 – February 27, 2026 – 40 hours per week, shift pattern alternating | Week 1: 06:30-14:30 | Week 2: 11:30-19:30

Are you a reliable and proactive individual looking to make a difference in your local community? Cheshire West and Chester Council are seeking a dedicated Caretaker to ensure buildings are safe, secure, and well-maintained for staff, members, and visitors.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure council buildings are operational and secure for daily use.

  • Perform portering duties, including fire and alarm system checks and assisting with evacuations.

  • Monitor staff car parks and validate staff passes.

  • Maintain stock levels and provisions across council buildings.

  • Conduct basic maintenance tasks using hand tools and report issues via the CAFM system.

  • Carry out weekly flushing of water outlets and other routine maintenance activities.

  • Liaise with contractors and engineers on-site.

  • Prepare meeting rooms for events, ensuring equipment is functional.

  • Participate in ceremonial occasions at Chester Town Hall (uniform provided).

  • Undertake additional duties as directed by the Account Manager or Workplace Solutions Supervisor, within any location across the borough.

  • A hands-on, practical approach to building maintenance and security.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Flexibility to support out-of-hours events when required.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and service.

  • Must be able to drive – works van will be issued but is to remain on site
